Money left over from an Arkansas tax sale may belong to you
When the State of Arkansas sells a property for unpaid taxes and it sells for more than was owed, the extra money is held for the former owner. Most people never hear about it. We help you claim it.
We are a private company, not a government agency. We will never ask you for money up front or for your bank login.
You can claim this money yourself, for free
You do not need us or anyone else. Contact the Arkansas Commissioner of State Lands at cosl.org and ask for an excess proceeds claim packet. You can also look up your name there to confirm the amount in our letter.
If you would rather not deal with the forms, notary and follow-up, that is where we come in.
How it works
Contact us
We confirm the amount the state is holding and that you are the person entitled to it.
Sign a simple agreement
Online, in a few minutes. It shows the amount, our fee and what you receive.
We prepare the claim
We fill out the state's forms and set up a free online notary session from your phone or computer.
The state pays you directly
The check comes from the State of Arkansas to you. You then pay our fee.
Our fee
Nothing up front. If you are not paid, you owe nothing. If you are paid, our fee is 10% of what you receive, the most Arkansas law allows.
| Example | Amount |
|---|---|
| State pays you | $20,000 |
| Our fee (10%) | $2,000 |
| You keep | $18,000 |
Questions people ask
Is this a scam?
It is a fair question. Check us before you do anything: confirm the amount yourself at cosl.org, email us, and look up Leftover Equity LLC in the New Jersey business registry. We never charge up front and the state pays you, not us.
How did you get my information?
The Commissioner of State Lands publishes a public list of excess proceeds, including the former owner's name, mailing address and amount.
Is there a deadline?
Yes. Unclaimed money goes to the county and can no longer be recovered. Our letter shows our estimate of your deadline, and we confirm it with the state before filing.
The owner has passed away. Can family claim?
In Arkansas, a parent, child or sibling of the former owner may claim, with extra documents such as a death certificate. Contact us and we will tell you what is needed.
What will I need?
Two forms of ID (one with a photo), a W-9 tax form, and a few minutes on a video call with an online notary. We handle the rest.
